earlier in the year and instead come in for a “soft landing,” followed by a

gradual increase in business activity.

(A) that the economy will avoid the recession that many had feared earlier in

the year and instead come

(B) in the economy to avoid the recession, what many feared earlier in the

选项分析：

(A)that the economy will avoid the recession that many had feared earlier in

【正确】 “that ”引导的从句作同位语正确地修饰了“confidence”，叙述了“信息”的具体内容，过去完成时的“had

【大意】
