GMAT句子改错题(sentence

Ranked as one of the most important of Europe’s young playwrights, Franz

Xaver Kroetz has written 40 plays; his works—translated into more than 30

languages—are produced more often than any contemporary German dramatist.

(A) than any

(B) than any other

(C) than are any

(D) than those of any other

(E) as are those of any

选项分析：

(A)than any

【错误】 比较结构：“any contemporary German dramatist(任何一个当代德国剧作家)”，无法与“his

work(他的作品)”平行可比。

(B)than any other

【错误】 比较结构：“any other contemporary German dramatist(其他任何一个当代德国剧作家)”，无法与“his

work(他的作品)”平行可比。

(C)than are any

【错误】 比较结构：见(A)。

(D)than those of any other

【正确】 “those”指代“works”，“than those of any other contemporary German

dramatist”和“his works”是“more……than……”引导的比较句式中平行可比的两部分。补齐省略部分，这个比较结构为“his works

are produced more often than those(类指‘works’)of any other contemporary German

dramatist(are produced)”。添加“other”是必要的，因为“Franz Xaver Kroetz”也属于

“contemporary German dramatist”，他的作品只能和“其他”当代德国剧作家的作品比较。

【错误】 比较结构：“more often”应和“than”搭配使用，而不是“as”。不仅如此“any”之后应加“other”，因为“Franz

Xaver Kroetz”也是“contemporary German dramatist”，因此他的作品，只能和“其他”“contemporary

German dramatist”的作品比较。

解题思路：

比较结构中，比较对象须平行可比，“his works”不能和“dramatist”相比，立即排除(A)、(B)、(C)。

(E)将“more”和“as”用于比较句式，立即排除。
