参考范文:
There is no doubt that housing is a big issue which is directly related to
the welfare of city dwellers. However, some people believe that planting trees in
cities is more important than providing housing. In my opinion, city planners
need to strike a balance between the two issues, considering the limited area of
land.
The benefits of planting trees are multiple and it would have a huge effect
on the city's environment. Trees can absorb waste gas and produce oxygen, which
means residents in the green city can enjoy more fresh air. This is particularly
important today when the number of cars in urban area increases rapidly,
Also, trees can adjust air temperature and provide green shade in summer.
Therefore, people living in a city with more trees would feel more comfortable.
Other benefits of trees include blocking dust and sand and preserving soil and
water. With more trees planted, the city is in a good position to withstand
natural disasters such as sandstorm and flood.
However,we cannot deny that in many cities, house shortage and the high price
of housing have seriously affected people's quality of life. Under this
circumstance, it is understandable that some people place more value on the
construction of houses, or even suggest destroying forests to gain more land for
housing. But I think this is short-sighted and urban construction should
sacrifice trees and grasslands.
In conclusion, planting trees conforms to the long-term interest of the
general public and it should be encouraged. In the urban planning, it is
justified to provide sufficient housing to meet people's demand, but the
importance of planting trees should also be emphasized.
