Urbanization has become an irreversible trend in modern society and an

increasing number of children have become urban dwellers. Thus，people are

debating whether cities are a better environment for the children growth

compared with the countryside.

It is undeniable that life in the countryside facilitates improving

children’s physical and psychological health. Children living in rural areas can

be spared from the vehicle exhaust and industrial waste gas. Instead，they spend

every day enjoying the gentle breeze and fresh air，thus ensuring their physical

fitness. The agreeable environment can also function as the way to improve

children's emotional wellbeing. For example，they can take a walk alongside the

street covered by green grass or swim in the limpid water nearby after a long

day without worrying no one driving them.

On the other hand，the advantages of being raised in cities seems to be more

obvious since urban children have more access to education resources and

opportunities to improve their all-round ability. To be more specific，the

faculty in cities，undeniably，is better than that in the countryside and the

teaching facilities，like interactive whiteboard and overhead projector，are also

rarely seen in the rural areas. Besides，the activities in urban schools are far

more colorful and educational，which can cultivate their integrated skills. For

instance，students in urban places can significantly enlarge their knowledge

scope and enhance their interactive skills through the Model United Nations.

In conclusion，even though the countryside provides children with seemingly

healthier life，cities can afford them incomparable opportunities to enhance

their competitiveness and make better preparation for the future.
