1.In a typical Chinese family, who plays the leading role?

The leading role is what you think a leading role should be. If it means

raising children then the mother fits this role more appropriately. If it means

being the bread winner then it usually means the father. So it’s what you think

the leading role entails is who you would choose.

2.In China, what kinds of family members usually live together?

The family members who usually live together are the married couple and their

child or children as will more likely be the case in the near future. In many

case a grandparent or both grandparents from either the wife or husband will

join them to take care of their baby.

3.Do young and the middle-aged people live with old people?

Yes, it’s possible if the old person lives long enough. The elderly

grandparent that had taken care of the middle aged children’s child might still

be alive and still be staying with one of their children. So it’s possible if

the elderly person lives long enough.

4.How do grandparents educate their grandchildren in your country?

Grandparents in China teach their grandchildren in much the same that their

parents would teach them. Before the grandparents start teaching the children

the parents will have conversations about what the grandparents should be

teaching their child. Chinese parents are very particular in what their kids

learn so the grandparents won’t vary much from the parent’s instructions.
