Task：

Some people think teaching children different abilities together benefits

everyone, but others think intelligent children should be taught separately and

given special treatment. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

有人认为小孩子一起接受不同技能的教育对每个孩子都有益，但有人认为聪明的孩子应该分开教育，被特殊对待。讨论双方观点并给出自己的观点。

Sample answer：

When it comes to the issue about whether children should be separated when

they have classes, some people may argue that a class filled with various kinds

of children may be more beneficial for everyone, but others believe that

dividing students into different groups may be better for their study.

On one hand, having a joint lecture contributes to the social skills of

preteen participants. When a large number of students have a class

simultaneously, teachers will usually separate them into smaller groups for

discussion. Through such group activities, students could better communicate

with each other and make acquaintance with more new friends. Also, it is

beneficial for them to enhance the awareness of teamwork, which is very crucial

for them when they grow up and begin to enter the work force.

On the other hand, streaming could serve to improve the efficiency of

schools. If all students attend a same lecture, teachers have to take care of

students who do not perform so well, which may pos官方真题Officialne the process of the

class. However, if streaming is adopted by schools, teachers are potent to

arrange different subjects for different students, such as giving more difficult

courses for intelligent ones. Then, students with higher intelligence could

accelerate their speed of learning and gain more knowledge as a result.

From my own perspective, studying together cannot benefit everyone since

smarter students may feel bored; however, streaming may not be a better

substitution considering that normal students may doubt their intelligence and

become frustrated. A better proposal is that basic courses, such as mathematics

and history, could be compulsory for everyone and students should attend those

basic lectures jointly to enhance their communication skills. Besides, some

advanced subjects could be optional for some motivated students to broaden their

horizons.
