Nowadays, it is much easier for a person to achieve success without the family's help than in the past.

Achieving success has always been a focal point among people of different age groups. However, it is never easy to obtain success just by luck or any other factors. Moreover, as time flies, the determinants of success have changed. The question here is if being successful is an easier task for a person even he is without family’s help. My answer is yes. （63 words）
First, thanks to the information explosion era, people get access to different sources to obtain useful resources to realize their success dream. With plentiful up-to-date information, a person knows if an industry is prospering or declining, and thus he can choose the job or the company with the best potential. Also, a student obtains more relevant knowledge when deciding on which university he should apply with the best shots even if his families know nothing about college application. However, in the past, people were basically half-blinded with only personal experience at hand. In this way, being successful might just be a result of unpredictable accidents. For example, when my brother was working on getting admitted by an American university, searching every ranking list of all American universities, contacting alumni for the first-hand experience and checking on each university’s websites were basically his after-school routine. Based on authoritative evaluation from various ranking lists, authentic experience of students from a specific college and officially announcement, he was quite sure UCLA would be his best fit. Luckily, he did get admitted to it and now he is a senior there, using the same researching methodology to find out the suitable place for his master’s degree. If he had been born fifty years ago, it would not have been so easy for him to find and finally get accepted by his dream school. Instead, families’ advice would have been his only reference which sometimes may not be reliable considering their limited knowledge. （251 words）
Second, better education ensures people’s better chances to win in the future. Actually, the value of education is to equip students with improved skills and better insight which are crucial for personal development. Compared to that fifty years ago which lacked a comprehensive structure of educating and well-rounded courses, the current education system offers diverse courses and activities to enable students’ academic and personal growth. Consequently, with greater abilities come better chances to realize great accomplishment. It is not surprising to see people under 30s establish their companies, especially in IT industry. Since they started to learn coding and other computer skills in their elementary years, they have grown to be computer experts in their 20s even though they might have no families working in this field, connecting the whole world and revolutionizing every other industry by providing advanced computer techniques. They should be definitely called “success”, shouldn’t they? All of these skills are developed in school programs like computer courses and coding competitions. I even heard our community provides basic programming courses for children of 5 years old. People forty years ago would never have imagined that! What they could learn was mostly basic and practical working skills to ensure that they could find a job to make ends meet. Naturally, it was extremely difficult for them to start up their own business as successful businessmen or businesswomen and it was common to take advantage of family connection to get a job. Commonly, people worked in factories, business corporations, and public institutions without the ability and opportunity to create their own legend. As a result, it was difficult to actualize their personal value to society to the greatest extent. (281 words)
