1.Are public gardens very important in China?
I assume yes. Public gardens may help to purify the air as well as provide us
with a good place to stroll in. After tiring work or study, we feel at ease in
the garden with all kinds of flowers in the eyesight. Also the garden is a
symbol of local “green-belts”.
2.Are there many public gardens in China?
Yes, there are many parks in China. These parks are with different themes.
For instance, there is a botanical park in the outskirt of the city, a big city
park with a natural lake and many trees, an amusement park, a water park with
many water activities and also many small community parks. The city is more
beautiful for these parks.
3.Do you think there are enough public gardens in your hometown?
I guess yes, but there is no garden nearby my house. I wish there were
more.
4.What do you think are the benefits of having gardens in the city?
Well, I would say, they beautify the city and enhance tourism by attracting
visitors. What’s more, they are often where couplesflirt.
5.Why do people who live in cities like public gardens?
Because it’s a nice place to relax.In the city centre, the park must be the
right place where people can escape from the noise and traffic.
6.Do you think governments should provide public gardens for people to
visit?
Yes, I think so. Government should spend more money on building parks for
people. It's a matter of quality of life and of community. I’d much rather see
parks and public gardens than nothing but concrete.
7.Do you think the government should spend more money on public gardens for
the cities or for the villages and small towns in the countryside?
Sure. They are places for the community to come together, for families to
walk in, and for children to play in. Green spaces help make people active.
Beyond that, there is certainly an aesthetic value. There’s also the value in
the plants creating clean oxygen for people to breathe.
8.Do these gardens play the same role for old people and young people?
I don’t think so. Old people tend to walk in the garden to kill time or
loneliness, while for young people, the garden is a cozy place for them to talk
about love. Anyway, the garden is a nice place for all ages of people to relax
and to read.
9.Do you think these gardens are more important for old people (e.g., retired
people) or young(er) people?
Actually, I think parks are beneficial to both old people and children. With
the fresh air, parks are wonderful places for children to have some recreation
and for old people to do exercises.
10.Do you think it's more important to have public facilities, such as
gardens and parks,for young people or for old people?
Sure. Gardens and parks are important to both old people and children.
11.Do you think gardens have any value for children?
For children, the garden is a childhood memory cos when they grow up and
recall the past, they at least share something in common that they experienced
all together. They not only provide old people with the place to do some
exercises but also supply recreational sites for children.
12.Do you think gardens are important for children to see and play in?
Yes, I think so. Nowadays, most parks and gardens are free for the public.
And there are various recreational facilities for children to play in. Moreover,
the change in scenery in four seasons can also let children get connect with the
nature.
13.Which do you think is more important, public gardens or private
gardens?
Public gardens, of course, since public gardens are well-constructed with
various public facilities. A boisterous but good-natured crowd may have fun
together.
14.Do they prefer to grow flowers or vegetables?
It depends. For me, I grow flowers in the front and tomatoes in the back of
the house. Most people in my country grow our vegetables in the back yard
because it's more attractive to plant the decorative flowers in the front.
15.Do you often (or, ever) go to a park or a (public) garden?
Yes. I often go to the park alone or accompanied by parents. There is a
middle-scaled public park which is only 10 minutes walking distance from my
home. There is an artificial lake in the park, and my family often boats on it.
Besides, when the weather is good, I like to read books in the pavilion.
16.How often do you go there?
I go to the garden once a week with my parents. We usually go there in
weekend. The garden doesn't charge visitors any entrance fees, so everyone can
go there as many times as they want.
17.What do you do when you go there?
I usually have a picnic or fishing with my family in the park. As my parents
believes in strengthening family ties, so no matter how busy they are, they
would make sure to find some time to go there.
18.What do other people do in parks?
Some people bring lunch and only spend money to get in and maybe rent the
canoe. Some people go for a relaxing hike with pretty scenery and fun stuff to
do. Some people go for a lovely date with a lovely person.
19.What do you think are the functions of parks and public gardens?
You know, now most citizens suppose that gardens and parks are important to
both individuals and cities. There are many important functions of parks and
gardens. They not only provide people with the place to do some leisure
activities and enjoy their weekends, but also help to enhance the cityscape.
